Adobe is a sort of mud bricks used to make building with a signature look. Possibly, the famous ‘hole in the bucket’ syndrome came from a mixture of earth and straw made into bricks and dried in the sun, used to build houses in some parts of the world. That is what is called an adobe house.
But the new generation is more familiar with-Adobe Systems Inc’s Flash, a once-ubiquitous technology used to power most of the media content found online. But alas, this technology will be buried under the mud and will be retired at the end of 2020. Adobe and its partners (Apple Inc, Microsoft Corp, Alphabet Inc’s Google, Facebook Inc and Mozilla Corp) would close the shop soon.
Steve Jobs wasn’t the first person to dislike Flash with all its volatility and instability. Adobe tried had to take up the flash build but failed. The easiest remedy was to completely uninstall Flash Player from the system. Finally, Adobe had to accept the flaws and call it a day- almost.
For twenty odd years, animators depended heavily on Flash. Flash Professional will be renamed Adobe Animate CC, starting with the next release in early 2016. Flash was not all that friendly with HTML5. Flash and AIR formats will continue for some more time, but by 2020, no more online support will be available. Along with Flash, a piece of history vanishes from the internet arena. The takeover of Flash by Adobe in 2005 coincided with Google acquiring Android. The first death bell was Adobe stopping support to iPhone. Google also stopped over-dependency on Flash.
Adobe said it would work with other online gamers and Facebook, as well as Unity Technologies and Epic Games to help developers migrate their games. The history repeats by itself and the obsolescence syndrome of internet technology are on.
